A column by Rick Zaccaria, Candidate for the New York State Assembly 129th District.
Syracuse, NY-September 9, 2014-It’s a no brainer; our children deserve the best education possible. That means the best schools, the best teachers, the best resources and the best technology available. On this year’s ballot, there is an initiative, Proposition 3, that asks for taxpayer approval for a $2 BILLION bond to provide schools with iPads and other state-of-the-art (by today’s standards) electronic equipment. While this proposal sounds good on the surface, it is ultimately a doomed proposition and I urge all our residents to vote NO on this misguided mortgaging of our tax dollars. Here’s why…
Rick Zaccaria, Assembly Candidate, Calls Out Bill Magnarelli for Failing Business Grades
August 25, 2014 Syracuse, New York- - Assembly Candidate Rick Zaccaria today criticized his opponent for yet another failing business grade, the latest coming from the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB). 129th Assembly Candidate Running To End State-Sponsored Standardized Tests and Curriculum
August 19, 2014- Syracuse, NY- Rick Zaccaria, the Republican and Conservative candidate for the 129th Assembly District, today submitted his petitions for the “Stop Common Core” party line in this year’s upcoming election. Zaccaria, a staunch opponent of the mandated Common Core system, sees this party line as the first step in bringing the concerns of parents, children and educators to the forefront and ending the current failed standards and curriculums that are wreaking havoc on our current education system.
The problems with funding our public education system have become apparent in recent years. As a parent and grandparent, I'm afraid our children's futures will be determined by petty, partisan politics. For this reason, I support the creation of an independent commission to allocate state education aid.

New York State loses over $140 MILLION each year because of fraud in the welfare system. While families throughout Central New York are struggling to put food on the table each night for their children, your tax dollars are being spent at liquor stores, strip clubs, off-track betting, and adult entertainment shops by those abusing the public assistance system. It's inexcusable and an injustice to the working-class.
It was no surprise that Bill Magnarelli was “startled” by David Rubin’s blistering opinion on Syracuse.com stating New York Democratic leadership “dissed” Syracuse. Since Bill accuses David Rubin of a ‘misleading, inaccurate and distorted’ picture of Syracuse and Central New York economy, then he surely must be advising his staffers to collect data from the ‘second star on the right’.
